Compatible SoundTouch Devices

If your system connects to the official SoundTouch app, the Controller Cube can rescue it.

Note on Premium Consoles & Legacy Adapters

The standard plug-and-play USB setup works flawlessly for the vast majority of standalone speakers (ST10, ST20, ST30). However, due to manufacturer hardware designs, premium multi-component systems and older legacy chips (Lifestyle, Wave, CineMate, Series I Portables, and Wireless Adapters) require advanced manual network configuration.

Standalone Speakers

Dedicated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth speakers designed for individual rooms:

SoundTouch 10
The most compact speaker in the lineup, designed for smaller spaces.
SoundTouch 20
A mid-sized, compact system that delivers richer, room-filling sound.
SoundTouch 30
The largest one-piece system, using Bose waveguide technology for powerful audio.
SoundTouch Portable Series I: Advanced Setup
An earlier model featuring a rechargeable battery for mobility.
* Series I requires manual network configuration. Series II and newer support USB setup.

Home Cinema Systems

Systems combining TV audio with multi-room SoundTouch music streaming:

SoundTouch 300
A premium standalone smart soundbar.
CineMate & SoundTouch 120, 130, 220, 520 Advanced Setup
Home cinema systems utilizing external wireless adapters.
* USB unsupported. Requires manual network configuration.
Lifestyle SoundTouch Advanced Setup
High-end, luxury home entertainment setups (e.g., 550, 600, 650).
* USB unsupported. Requires manual network configuration.

Radios & Adapters

Bridges and native stereos equipped with the SoundTouch ecosystem:

Wave SoundTouch System IV Advanced Setup
Combines Bose's iconic Wave radio system with Wi-Fi functionality.
* USB unsupported. Requires manual network configuration.
Wireless Link Adapter Advanced Setup
Adds SoundTouch capabilities to older, non-smart stereo systems.
* USB unsupported. Requires manual network configuration.
SA-4 & SA-5 Amplifiers
Dedicated amplifiers to power outdoor or passive in-ceiling speakers.

Quick Setup Guide (Tier 2)

Deploying your Digital Download is a simple, plug-and-play process.

1. Flash the OS

Download the compressed software package from your receipt. Use imageUSB or Raspberry Pi Imager to flash the file directly to your MicroSD card. (No need to extract it first!)

2. Prepare your Key

Insert USB Stick #1 into your computer. Create a text file named exactly license.txt. Paste your License Key inside and save.

3. Activate your Product

Insert the MicroSD card and USB Stick #1 into your NanoPi. Connect to power and ethernet. Wait 60 seconds for the system to read your key and activate.

Success check: license.txt will automatically rename to license_APPLIED.txt

4. Adopt Speakers

Insert USB Stick #2 into the SETUP/SERVICE port on the back of your Bose speakers. They will instantly detect the NanoPi, adopt the local routing, and reboot onto your new network.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our local architecture and hardware fulfillment.

What are the ongoing costs or subscriptions fees? +

Absolutely none. Controller Pro operates on a strict "buy once, own forever" model. There are no monthly subscriptions, hidden add-ons, or advertising. You pay a one-time fee for the software and/or hardware, and you own your speakers, you no longer rely on outside organisations to keep your system running. The Controller Cube is a one-time purchase.

Is Amazon Music, Deezer, or native Spotify included? +

Unfortunately not, corporate integrations require ongoing developer accounts, proprietary API keys, and expensive ongoing licensing fees. If we built those native plugins, these massive corporations could revoke our keys at any moment, breaking your hardware all over again. By sticking strictly to open local-network standards (UPnP/DLNA) and direct internet radio routing, we ensure nobody can ever shut your speakers down.

What data or usage statistics are collected by Controller Pro? +

Absolutely none. Controller Pro and the Controller Cube are built around a privacy-first, zero-telemetry architecture. No user data, behavioral analytics, crash reports, or diagnostic stats are gathered or transmitted. All system communications occur strictly within your local area network (LAN), meaning neither the app nor the hardware cube requires internet access or contacts external cloud servers to function. Neither device contains third-party analytics SDKs, advertising scripts, spyware, adware, or remote telemetry mechanisms of any kind.

Will I be able to press a physical button on my speaker to play a saved radio station or NAS music file? +

Absolutely. The Controller Cube permanently restores the ability to play a saved radio station (or NAS music file) with a simple press of a physical button. You can also use the original remote controller to select stored presets.

How long will the Controller Cube last? +

Because we exclusively use Industrial-Grade memory with advanced wear-leveling algorithms, the Controller Cube is engineered to run 24/7 for years without fail. Since your speakers will never receive another firmware update from Bose, nothing will break the connections, our master software never needs to change. According to the silicon lifespan maths, the Controller Cube will likely outlast the physical speakers themselves! (But we obviously cannot guarantee that!)

Will unwanted Bose firmware updates break my Controller Cube setup? +

No. Our logic actively intercepts speaker update requests directed to /updates/soundtouch and serves a secure, blank software update manifest. This permanently protects your hardware from breaking corporate overrides.

Do I lose my saved radio presets or NAS settings if my router or speaker reboots? +

Not at all. The Controller Cube instantly intercepts preset changes and media drive credentials, saving them permanently to the Cube. Upon reboot, the system force-feeds these settings directly back into physical speaker allowing you to continue from the previous state.

How does it work? +

The Controller Cube is a small, low-power microcomputer that runs custom firmware. It replaces the closed Bose cloud server with a local version, directly connected to your home network. It is like having your own private Bose cloud server that you control personally. No personal data is captured, no information leaves your network. There are no 'back doors' or hidden connections. The Cube simply acts as a local bridge between your speakers and your network, restoring many of the features that were lost when the Bose cloud was shut down.
